Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to measure the leadership characteristics of football coaches. The sample of the research consists of a total of 648 football coaches working in various sports clubs in Turkey, 7 of which are women and 641 men. The individuals participating in the study were chosen by random method. As a data collection tool in research; The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire 5-X Short (MLQ) developed by Bass and Avolio (1997) and adapted to Turkish by Cemaloğlu (2007) and the "Personal Information Form" questioning demographic characteristics were used. SPSS 21 IBM statistical package program was used to evaluate the obtained data. The total score of each sub-dimension was taken to calculate the data. All comparative statistics are based on these scores. Whether the data showed normal distribution was analyzed by Shapiro-Wilk test. It was understood that Transformational leadership sub-dimension total score, Transactional leadership sub-dimension total score, leadership behavior results sub-dimension total score and total score of the multi-factor leadership scale did not have normal distribution values. (p <0.05). However, when the kurtosis and skewness coefficients of these sub-dimensions are examined, it is seen that the kurtosis and skewness coefficients are between +1 and -1 values. According to Jondeau and Rockinger (2008), when the skewness and kurtosis coefficients of the sub-dimensions change between +3 and -3, they stated that these sub-dimensions have conditions suitable for the normal distribution parameters and since no significant deviation was observed in the histogram graphs drawn, it was thought that the data in this sub-dimension showed normal distribution. In this context, Independent samples T-Test and One Way Anova tests which are among parametric tests were preferred in the analysis of the data. The significance level of the findings was based on p <0.05. According to the findings of the study, it was observed that the leadership perceptions of football coaches in the dimension of transformational leadership and leadership behavior results were above the average, and the leadership perceptions were close to the average in the transactional leadership dimension (p <0.05). According to the other findings of the study, it was observed that the dimensions of transformational leadership style, transactional leadership style and leadership behavior results of Football Coaches did not change significantly according to gender, certificate seniority of the coach and the league variables of the team they worked with (p> 0.05). On the other hand, it was determined that it significantly changed according to the variables of age, marital status, education level and professional seniority. As a result, this research revealed that there is a positive relationship between some demographic characteristics of football coaches and their leadership characteristics.
