Abstract (EN)

In This postgraduate thesis which is an art research and aims to contribute to the field of art, researches on the definition and development of Futurism Art have been made and interpreted. Futurism is explained with an evaluation in terms of its genesis and basics. Within the context of Futurist Art Movement, famous artists and figurative works were examined and interpreted. The shell-changing world with the effects of French Revolution and Industrial Revolution is certainly the main reasons for the artistic changes we witnessed in the 19th and 20th centruies. Modernization, which was created by the technology and inventions developed in the Industrial Revolution, led to the formation of Futurism Art Movement. Filippo Tommaso Marinetti introduced the 'Futurism Manifesto' in 1909 and adopted modern and contemporary art instead of traditional art with stereotyped ideologies. The futurists aimed at destroying traditional values up to the time. Futurists have defined speed and motility as the basic factors with these ideas. Although the bad conditions of their time, they have pioneered many art movement with the wording style they developed fort he development of Futurism. One of the striking specialities of Futurism is the pro-war attitude of salvation that they create in contrast the other art movement. Notwithstanding, in the world war they entered, their artistic formations were ended by being negatively affected by the war. Altough Futurism is a short-term movement, it has pioneered the formation of many modern and post-modern movements with its artistic foundations. In Futurism, figures are expressed with breaking of view, energetic brush strokes and repeated lines as if moving and diverging. Futurist artists chose moving subjects to reach the effects of dinamism and used colors in this directions. In general, streets, houses, roads, crowd and speed are the basis of their Works. The most famous Futurist artists are Umberto Boccioni, Giacomo Balla, Carlo Carrà, Gino Severini. Keywords: Futurism, Futurist Artists, Futurists
