Relationship between career expectations and attitudes towards the culinary profession of female students studying in gastronomy department

This thesis was made to measure the career prospects of female students studying at the undergraduate level in the field of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and to examine their attitudes towards the culinary profession. Survey technique was used to collect data. Surveys were applied to 569 students studying at 16 state and 12 foundation universities providing gastronomy and culinary arts education in Turkey. When the collected surveys were examined, 492 surveys were evaluated as a result of the removal of incomplete and sloppy fillers. Factor analysis, T test and ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis h test, correlation and simple regression analysis were used for data analysis in the study. According to the results of the analysis, female students ' attitudes and career expectations towards the culinary profession did not differ significantly compared to the graduated high school variable, while significant differences were found compared to the class and internship variable. According to the results of the correlation analysis, there is a positive, weak level between career expectancy and gender decency; it has been found that it is positively associated with trust and respectability at a moderate level and positively associated with love of the profession at a strong level. Career expectancy has been seen to have a positively significant impact on attitudes towards the culinary profession. Keywords: Gastronomy Education, Career Prospects, Cooking Profession.
