Eveluation of the knowledge level of gaziantep university students about sexuality and reproduetion health, nursing program master?s degree thesis

Necessities of the young population show significant discrepancy compered to older people. This revelity is being neglected and demends of the young population about Sexuelity Health and Reproduction Health (SHRH) has not been corresponded. We eimed in our study to evaluate of the knowledge level of Gaziantep University students about SHRH. 1720 students were included to study who were in 1st and 4th closs in 2009-2010 educetion period. SPSS 15.0 statistical package program was used to analyse the data and number, percentage, mean value and Standard deviation values were used as variables. X2 test was performed to determine differences.36.7% of was in Faculty of Engineering, 68.0% attending to the school for first year; 41.1% was in 20-21 age group, 62.2% was male, 75.2% live in cities, 85.1% of the students was single;83.3% said schools should give SHRH education, 45.5% of the students thought that SHRH education should be given at primary school level, 52.5% found sexual and reproductive health information is adeguete; 82% of the students wants to get information about SHRH from the health practitianers; 54.5% tolks with their friends about SHRH issues; 54.5% is of sexual intercourse before marriage and had looked at negatively, 80.2% said the university must be a unit of SHRH counseling; 67.8% is of topics not to answer the SHRH education programs are needed; 8% has inadequete, 56.2% has moderate, 35.9% has adequate SHRH information score. SHRH score of the 4th closs students were higher them the 1st closs students. SHRH scores rise with increasing age. Girls have more than SHRH scores than male students, the relationships between these groups were statistically significant (p <0.05).Keywords: Reproductive health; sexual health issues; young people; reproductivity health; reproductivity health issues.
