Youtube as an alternative media platform against traditional media: A review on youtube news channels

Throughout the history of humanity, individuals have always needed to receive news and have met this need in various ways. Technological developments have provided an easy way to meet the need for information. The ruling class has always tried to keep it under control and put pressure on the mass media in order to legitimize its own power. With digital innovations, the distribution of information has become unstoppable and journalists who are exposed to pressure in the traditional media have sought new alternative platforms for themselves. In this study, especially as a result of censorship and economic commitment, journalists' search for new alternatives and the need to meet this need through Youtube are discussed. The fact that Youtube, which is in a different position from the traditional media, has become an alternative media platform against the traditional media, has been tried to be revealed by analyzing three different Youtube news channels according to alternative media theories.
