Abstract (EN)
Ship breaking or ship dismantling is a type of ship disposal involving the breaking up of ships for scrap recycling in ship breaking yards. There is no special procedure or calculation for ship breaking in the world, but ship breakers decide cutting operations based on their experiences. Dangerous stresses on the ship that may occur during cutting operations cannot be anticipated, this situation may cause to be broken ship, damaged, unwanted environmental pollution of sea and danger for workers.In this thesis, cutting conditions and calculations are made for two types of vessels (a containership, 262 m. in lengthwith 59630 DWT and a passengership, 226.55 m. in lengthwith 7400 DWT) by using the GL licensed programs which are Hecsalv and Poseidon. In this context, calculations are made step by step and dangerous stress concentrations that lead the ships face (ship breaking) are observed. Thus, the landing method which is implemented in Turkey, is examined with many ways by executing different problems in various approaches.Keywords:Shipdismantling, finite element, strength, longitudinalstrength.
