Investigation of the relationship between cognitive insight, depressive symptoms, obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms, and psychotic-like experiences in the general population

In this study, the relationship between cognitive insight levels and symptoms of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and psychosis-like experiences in the general population was examined. The study was conducted using random sampling and a correlational survey model. A total of 473 participants, including 330 women and 143 men aged 18-65, took part in the study. Participants were administered a demographic information form, the Beck Cognitive Insight Scale, the Beck Depression Inventory, the Maudsley Obsessive-Compulsive Questionnaire, and the Community Assessment of Psychic Experiences Scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 26.0. The analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between cognitive insight levels and symptoms of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and psychosis-like experiences in the general population. The subdimension of cognitive insight, self-expression, also showed a significant positive relationship with depression symptoms, obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms, and psychosis-like experiences. However, no significant relationship was found between these variables and the other subdimension of cognitive insight, self-certainty.
