Abstract (EN)

In this study, the design of flat, helix, conical and worm gears in a gear box and that of shaft diameter, bearing and box body has been realized by means of genetic algorithm which is a new optimization method and can be used almost in every field at the present day. The objective functions which have been optimized are; the minimization functions of the volumes of gear wheel, shaft, and bearing. As the genetic algorithm is based on the principle of finding the best just like genetic process, the values of the variables within the specified range have enabled the parts of the gear box to reach to the optimum dimensions. The optimum module has been found by estimating according to tooth strength, surface and crush. Dimensioning of shaft diameter has been optimized according to variable loading and that of bearing has been done according to working life. The results of gear volumes obtained by genetic algorithm have been evaluated by comparing with the results obtained by analytical method and it has been reached to the conclusion that genetic algorithm can be used efficiently in the optimizations of the design of machine elements.
