Abstract (EN)

The problems encountered by the modern man such as negative environmental conditions, uncontrolled population growth, and therefore a sense of siege created by the crowded cities, increase the need for natural lands for recreational activities. Planning and design processes executed to create recreational areas have become easier with today's technological capabilities. Within this frame, geodesign, which is currently a popular concept in the field of planning and design, is also examined and discussed within landscape planning and design processes. Actually, geodesign provides a framework that has been applied by man since the beginning of his existence, and is today reevaluated from a technological point of view. W,thin the context of this thesis, geodesign approaches presented in the literature have been examined by means of its utilization for landscape design applications, and relations with GIS. Moreover to fulfill this aim, Kanlıpınar Pond Recreational Land has been selected as the case area for practicing the geodesign approach. Eventually some layouts necessary for landscape design process have been produced in harmony with the geodesign approach, within the case study area, which is frequently visited by the citizens. The data of the study area were analyzed and interpreted through GIS capabilities.
