Abstract (EN)
Advertisement, which brings design and consumption together, is a communication tool that prioritizes design and aesthetics while using ways of persuasion. This communication that is formed between the consumer and the advertisement reflects the cultural elements and it has a directive power on society. The success of an ad which has this power is directly correlated with the success of the design. The purpose of this research is to properly identify the understanding of advertisement in our current day and age by, firstly considering the history of advertisements and analyze the process of how the messages, that the advertisements offer, are interpreted by the consumer and analyse the visual perception in terms of Gestalts Perception Principle. The components of advertisement and design will be researched by analysing the relationship between them. Advertisement design, the design of the environment in the advertisements, and the affect that the message has on the consumer will be analyzed from a interdisciplinary design and consumer perspective. At the end of the research, participants will watch an advertisement, that is prepared within the context of the thesis, and fill out a survey. The point of this survey is to; see how much the participants will notice the advertisement spaces, how much the enviroment confirms the message that the advertisement is trying to send out, and the effects that enviromental design has on the integrity of the advertisement. Once the survey is complete, the relationship between advertisement design and enviroment design will be evaluated with this data.
