Abstract (EN)
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common type of heart disease. CAD happens when the arteries that supply blood to heart tissue become hardened and narrowed. This is due to the buildup of cholesterol and other material, called plaque, on their inner walls. High-fat diets, obesity, diabetes and smoking, all of which are considered CAD risk factors. It?s known that there is relation between GST enzyme and CAD. Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a group of enzymes known to play an important role in the detoxification of several endogenous and exogenous toxic at xenobiotic metabolism. In humans, GST enzymes are divided into five subclasses alpha, mu, pi, theta, zeta. In addition, each class includes several genes and isoenzymes. Glutathione S-transferaz M1 (GSTM1) ve T1 (GSTT1) are associated with the detoxification or activation of some chemicals in cigarette smoke. Mutations in this genes cause decrease the enzyme activity and CAD.In this study was investigated relationship between CAD and AMI with GSTT1 and GSTM1 polymorphisms. Areas where polymorphisms located in, was amplificated with Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method. But polymorphism wasn?t found. Also we know GST gene is associated with CAD, in our study we found no association between GSTT1 and GSTM1 with CAD.
