Abstract (EN)

The present study has involved the modification of plasma proteins in pregnant women with gestential diabetes mellitus (GDM). For this purpose, 150 women were enrolled in the study, 40 were healthy non-pregnant women, 40 were healthy pregnant women, and 70 women were diagnosed with GDM. The results have shown a significant (P<0.05) reduction in the levels of total protein, albümin, and globulin, as well as the thiol protein levels in the plasma of GDM pregnant women. On the other hand, the levels of glycated albumin, advanced oxidative plasma protein (AOPP), and protein carbonyl were significantly (P<0.05) elevated in GDM women. Nevertheless, the levels of fructosamine and free amine groups were non-significantly (P>0.05) different between GDM and control. Additionally, the healthy pregnant women have shown non-significant (P>0.05) differences of all tested parameters compared to the non-pregnant control. This indicates the development of oxidative stress upon the incidence of GDM, which can be a risk factor for the mother and the child.
