Investigation of neighborhood relations in everyday life experiences of migrant women: The case of Düzce

Migration corresponds to a process as an act of displacement. It is a thesis research that examines the neighborhood relations in the daily life experiences of immigrant women migrating from different countries. The aim of the research is to reveal the experiences and difficulties experienced by immigrant women in their daily life experiences in neighborhood relations. The findings obtained using the qualitative research method were interpreted with the descriptive analysis technique. The snowball sampling method was preferred for sample selection. 27 immigrant women participated in the research voluntarily and were limited to immigrant women in Düzce province. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview form and the data collection process was completed with in-depth interviews conducted face-to-face. The findings are presented under themes such as migration and decision-making process, daily life experiences, neighborhood relations, the role of language in neighborhood relations and their views on their expectations for the future. As a result of the research, it was seen that immigrant women encounter various difficulties in their daily life experiences and neighborhood relations, that each immigrant woman experiences these processes differently, and that some immigrant women develop themselves in this process, adapt to their new settlements and rebuild their daily lives. The study aims to contribute to academic studies on migration and women, with the perspective of examining the neighborhood relations in the daily lives of immigrant women.
