Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate odontogenic cysts associated with impacted teeth and to determine which odontogenic cyst is most commonly observed. Materials and Methods: A total of 100 patients with impacted teeth associated with odontogenic cysts were included in our study. These patients were first categorized according to the type of odontogenic cyst in relation to age and gender. Subsequently, the association between odontogenic cysts and systemic diseases was examined. Then, the type of odontogenic cyst was evaluated together with the associated impacted tooth on panoramic radiographs and classified according to the jaw in which it was located, anatomical localization, anterior/posterior position of the jaw, and proximity to anatomical structures. Results: Our study included 100 patients aged between 9 and 76 years, comprising 67 males and 33 females. Among these 100 patients, 14 had systemic diseases, while 86 did not have any systemic diseases. Among the patients included in the study, odontogenic cysts associated with impacted teeth were observed in 74 cases in the posterior mandible, 16 cases in the anterior maxilla, 6 cases in the anterior mandible, and 4 cases in the posterior maxilla. Histopathological analysis revealed dentigerous cysts in 88 patients and odontogenic keratocysts in 12 patients. Conclusion: The most common odontogenic cyst observed in impacted teeth is the dentigerous cyst. The most frequently affected region is the posterior mandible, and a significant relationship was found between the anatomical location of the impacted tooth and the type of odontogenic cyst.
