Abstract (EN)

The quenching process is a heat treatment and it increases the hardness of themetals. With this process, metals are heated to high temperatures under theirmelting points. Then, they were rapidly cooled in the quenchant. At the end ofthis treatment, the strength of the metals increased. In this study, the water-cooling process of porous aluminium, copper, bronze, iron and stainless steelcylinders produced with Powder Metallurgy (P/M) was investigated. For thepoints on the cylinders at different porosity, cooling curves which include thechange of temperature with the time were obtained by the experimentalmethod. The results were compared with the results of the numerical andanalytical studies given in the literature. Effect of porosity geometries, densityvariations of the metals and heat loses are neglected in the experimentalmethod.
