Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the vehicle defects identified as a result of inspections carried out between 2014 and 2023 at the Gümüşhane Province Vehicle Inspection Station were analyzed. In light of the data obtained, the most common types of defects, their distribution according to categories of vehicles and ages, and their impacts on traffic safety were examined in detail. The analysis revealed that defects such as misaligned low and high beam headlights, engine and transmission oil leaks, absence of fire extinguishers, malfunctioning license plate lighting, and surface cracks on tires are frequently encountered issues. These defects pose significant risks to traffic safety and can contribute to accidents. Additionally, deficiencies in exhaust emission measurements, which can harm the environment, were also found to be noteworthy. This study provides data–driven recommendations to improve vehicle maintenance awareness and ensure traffic safety at both local and locally and nationally.
