Abstract (EN)

In this study, first grade students' misconceptions about the concepts of Earth, Sun, Moon and stars were determined and it was aimed to eliminate misconceptions by preparing concept cartoons accordingly. The study was carried out in the 2022-2023 academic year with first graders at a primary school in a provincial district in the Western Black Sea Region. The study was conducted with 18 students determined by convenient sampling method. A single group pre-test post-test experimental design was used in the research. The data collection tool was a misconception identification tool developed by the researcher in line with the concepts of Sun, Earth, Moon and stars. The data collection tool was shaped in line with the relevant literature review and expert opinions. Concept cartoons were created by the researcher as course material. The lesson was taught through concept cartoons. The tool for determining misconceptions was first applied to all students as a pre-test. Then, after the lessons taught with concept cartoons, the misconception detection tool was applied as a post-test. Descriptive analysis method was used to analyze the data. As a result of the study, it was seen that teaching lessons with concept cartoons was effective in eliminating students' misconceptions. In this regard, suggestions were made that using concept cartoons and visualization would be effective in teaching students astronomy concepts.
