Abstract (EN)

With this study, it has been aimed at determining to what extent the fouth-year students attending the course of Main Art Workshop at Department of Painting-Crafts Teaching at Fine Arts Department of Gazi Faculty of Education, Gazi University can express their feelings and opinions on global warming, climate changes and environmental pollution by using Expressionism, an art movement.During the study, observation, interview and painting practices have been performed. The paintings made by the fourth-years students (60 students attending the course of main art workshop) having participated in the study have been assessed by three visual arts experts.While determining the student group composed of 60 people irrespective of gender, it has been tried to form a homogeneous group consisting of students whose economic and social conditions are close to one another. The student group consisting of 60 people has been divided into 3 groups composed of 20 people each. Each group has been lectured on an art movement and environmental pollution and shown the visual materials related to the topic. Then the students have been asked to do research regarding the topic and make paintings in accordance with the related art movement. The paintings made by the students have been assessed by art experts. At the end of the assessments, it has been observed that the participants produced works of arts characterized by the attributes of the lectured art movement in terms of colour, form and expression in accordance with the topic. It has been considered that those paintings made put emphasis on environmental pollution and succeeded in attracting people?s attention to the topic. Also it has been observed during the study carried out that the participants had difficulty in completing their painting works due to shortage of course hours.
