Abstract (EN)

The views introduced by the instructors carrying out the Basic Art Education / Basic Design course in the field of Painting in the Faculties of Fine Arts and Department of Fine Arts Education and also students? views concerning the course have been evaluated within the scope of this study.The study group of the research has been composed of 23 instructors who carry out this course in Faculties of Fine Arts and Faculties of Education and 210 students. Qualitative data belonging to the research have been gathered from web sites of the Faculties, from documents and also in consequence of interviews performed with the instructors. As for quantitative data belonging to the research, they have been obtained by questionnaire. In the analysis of quantitative data, it has been made use of frequency, percentage, t-test and meaningfulness level. The meaningfulness level in the research has been accepted as 0.5.Some of research results and propositions are as follows;1)Considering available literature, it has been seen that there is no conceptual unity on the point of principles and elements of basic design.2)It has been recognized that the instructors are carrying out their courses with similar contents.3)It has been considered that the students find theoretical knowledge provided during the course insufficient when compared with the instructors. Theoretical subjects fulfilling the practices should be emphasized by being equated the theoretic and application periods of the course.
