Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to develop a teaching method suitable for basic principles of voice training and singing style of Traditional Turkish Music in order to be used for Fine Arts High Schools Traditional Turkish Choir Music training and analyse the effects of this method in the performances of students in terms of vocalisation. Posttest control group model which is true experimental design was used in this study. Qualitative data collection methods were used in order to develop the teaching method. Within this perspective, the Traditional Turkish Music choir courses in Fine Arts High Schools were observed and opinions of subject matter experts were collected. The data was analysed by using Nvivo programme and the findings were used to develop the teaching method. An 8 week long experiment process was conducted with the 12th grade students of Ankara Fine Arts High School in the school year of 2019-2020 within the Traditional Turkish Music choir education training in order to examine the effects of teaching method on vocalisation. Posttest performances of control and experimental groups were evaluated by a team of 10 experts consisting of 5 Turkish Folk Music experts and 5 Turkish Classical Music experts. Expert evaluations were made by using rubric. Results show that the teaching method developed for Traditional Turkish Music choir education has positive effects in mastery of the piece, phonation, resonance, intonation and homogeneity.
