Analysis of Hakan Akdoğan's novels in terms of structure and theme

In Turkish fiction, modernism and postmodernism movements gained prominence under the influence of the modernization that began in the 1970s. In this period, when creativity and the ability to develop one's own literary style gained value, works written with complex plots, ambiguous time structures, setting descriptions that lacked a sense of belonging, and new techniques brought a different perspective to the narrative. Hakan Akdoğan is one of the contemporary writers influenced by these movements. The aim of this three-part study is to examine the structural and thematic elements in the author's seven novels in this context. The author, who began his writing career in 1994, explores the inner struggles of individuals experiencing existential anxiety and the experiences of loneliness in his works. The novels touch on issues such as loneliness, escape, love, affection, violence, and bullying. Love and affection are pathological emotional states. The protagonists of the novels, excluded and lonely by society, constantly yearn for escape. These characters are seen as prone to violence and bullying.
