Abstract (EN)

The second important transition period in a human life is marriage. Marriage becomea fact when two youngs come together. Marriage is an association of two youngs lasting a lifetime physically and mentally to start a family, in full compliance with the laws. Marriage becoming fact with togetherness of two persons, strengthens solidarity, cooperation and consanguinity between families. On the other hand, it regulates social and economic relations. Being husband and wife of couples becomes true after being confirmed by society. Nations have customs and traditions relating to marriage longstanding. Wedding is the most important stage of marriage process. It is important with regards to gain social status for bride and groom and to provide solidarity between families. Besides, weddings are important ceremonies reflecting vigorously customs and traditions and usages. Wedding is a social event and it is seen that participating in wedding ceremonies is much more than other ceremonial meetings. More participating in wedding ceremonies makes it strong and vibrant. The weddding ceremonies of Turkman of Aleppo and nearby cities continue from three days to one week, at the present time, saloon wedding ceremonies made in city is limited with one. Weddings made in villages are nearly same. Wedding ceremonies in region Turkman, is a stage beginning from flag planting ceremony to the time of wedding night. In this study, we examine the traditions of Turkman living in Aleppo and around about marriage as well as wedding ceremonies. We tried to bring to light determining executions relating to marriage traditions and using the methods of observation and interviews. Traditions of Aleppo Turkman who have been had to immigrate to several regions due to the political development will certainly undergo change. In this respect, we think that the determinations that we made, bear qualification of documents about Aleppo Turkman and they are really important. keywords: Aleppo Turkmens, weddings, Transitions periods, tradition, custom
