Abstract (EN)

This study examines the commentary (ḥāshiyah) entitled Al-Hawashi Al Azhariyyah Fi Hal Alfadh Al-Muqaddimah Al-Jazariyyah by Khalid b. Abdullah al-Azhari (d. 905/1499) on the work Muqaddimah Al-Jazariyyah by Ibn al-Jazari (d. 833/1429), which contains concise and essential information on Tajwid (the art of reciting the Qur'an). Al-Azhari expounded the Muqaddimah Al-Jazariyyah, which was written in verse form, by translating it into simple and easily understandable prose. Noting that the ḥāshiyah has not yet been the subject of academic study in Turkey, this study aims to introduce the work and contribute to the field. It is noted that two different Arab scholars have critically edited the work. According to the research conducted based on the documents of the Manuscripts Institution, there are eight different manuscript copies of the work, all of which were examined. The themes of the ḥāshiyah were examined using both classical and modern sources and summarized together with the ḥāshiyah. The study revealed that Al-Azhari explained the topics in the following four steps: First, Al-Azhari clarified the literal and technical meanings of the words. Then he referred to the works of earlier scholars, especially recitation scholars such as Makki (d. 437/1045), Dani (d. 444/1053), Shāṭibiyyah (d. 590/1194), and Ja'bari (d. 732/1332), and presented his views on tajwid issues. Finally, he illustrated the topics mainly with the verses of Qur'an and occasionally with standard usage and poetry. Al-Azhari did not engage in disputes over tajwid but addressed the possible questions that might arise in the reader's mind. Scholars such as al-Sakhawi, Ibn al-Imad, and Hansari have praised Al-Azhari in every respect. Al-Azhari has endeavored to explain all aspects of tajwid with equal care. This thesis intends to emphasize this approach and provide an example of how everyone should approach all aspects of Tajwid with equal care.Daha sonra doldurulacaktır.
