Abstract (EN)

In this study, one of the first novels of Halide Edip Adivar, one of the master writers of Turkish literature, was examined as Râik's Mother. This work is the second of the works given by the author in the novel genre. During this period, many of the author's works were published in sections in magazines and newspapers. The novel was first published in The Bunch magazine. It was then turned into a book in orhaniye printing press and reprinted by yeni printing house in 1967. Halide Edip shaped the novel Mother of Râik in four chapters: chapter 1 is in which the narrator introduces the heroes, in chapters 2-3, events, the establishment of relationship networks and some intrigues, and in chapter 4 it is the end of events. As content, the author included topics such as false Westernization, the state of education in Turkish society and the problem of women in his novel. Especially the extremism in Westernization is the real problem that the novel solves. In his works, he produced characters that reflected the culture of the society in which he was found. Halide Edip has taken a critical stance on the reflections of extremism on women and family structure instead of the gradual transition of Turkish society in modernization. He emphasized that the marriage that constitutes the concept of family is through the harmony of opinion and heart between individuals. This work of the author was not considered successful in terms of language and style because it was one of his first novels. The work has not been transcripted before and has been transferred to the new writing in its simplified form. Transcript ve reading of the text was made based on the Turkish Science Transcription System and was added to the third part of the study.
