Religious-moral approaches in individual and community relations according to Hariri's Makamat

Harīrī's Maqāmāt is of great importance in terms of setting forth general moral rules in interpersonal relations and exemplifying morality, which has an important place in the Islamic religion. In this context, the aim of this study is to identify the religious and ethical approaches in the relations between individuals and societies mentioned in this work. It is also aimed to exemplify them in the light of the Holy Qur'an and the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Since the maqāmas have not been analyzed from a religious and ethical point of view in previous studies on maqāmas, it was deemed necessary to conduct this study. The protagonists are al-Hāris Ibn Hemmām and Abū Zayd al-Sarūjī. Abū Zayd al-Sarūjī is a person who reminds people of moral principles and gives them advice on this subject. Hāris Ibn Hemmām was a man who met Abū Zayd al-Sarūjī wherever he went and wanted to benefit from his literary skills. During the study, the studies on Makāmāt were examined, the literature was reviewed, and the fifty makāma in Makāmāt were analyzed one by one. In these maqāmas, by mentioning the issues that are based on deceiving people, it is tried to reveal that it is actually aimed to make people adopt the truth and beauty. In line with the information obtained, many examples of the Islamic religion and the moral structure of human beings were found in this work.
