Abstract (EN)

8.SUMMARYThyroid malignancies account for approximately 1% of all human cancers. A lossor reduction of the tumor suppressor gene PTEN expression has been observed in thyroidneoplasms. A reduced PTEN expression was reported in approximately 40% of thyroidtumors. The defective PTEN protein expression seen in thyroid cancers is not very oftencoupled to mutations in the PTEN gene. The study series included 101 cases from 15 cases of follicular thyroid carcinomas,28 cases of papillary thyroid carcinomas, 29 cases of follicular thyroid adenomas and 29cases of Hashimoto thyroiditis. PTEN expression with immunohistochemistry method wasevaluated as cytoplasmic and nuclear. In Hashimoto thyroiditis was found mostly weak of expression loss in terms ofcytoplasmic and nuclear intensity. In Hashimoto thyroiditis and follicular adenomas weresimilar nulear and cytoplasmic staining intensity and percentage. In papillary carcinomaswas observed the most of PTEN expression loss in terms of cytoplasmic and nuclearintensity. In papillary and follicular carcinomas were seen markedly of PTEN expressionloss in terms of cytoplasmic and nuclear intensity compared with the benign lesions.29
