Abstract (EN)

In this research, an attempt has been made to modify the commercial B-97 sprue wax in order to improve its properties so that it can be used as a pattern wax in investment casting. For this purpose, soybean (Wilken-3480, NS-6, RHS-6592 and SGI-3308) flours, some colloids (gum arabic, pectin, agar, polyvinylprrolidone-40, cross-linked polyvinylpyrolidone, alginic acid, cellulose, carboxymethylcellulose, silicon, tannic acid, saponin), some surface active agents (sodium dodecyl sulfate, sorbitane oleostearate, glycerine), activated charcoal and palmitic acid have been used as the additives. The effects of these additives on the surface roughness, solidification shrinkage, viscosity, hardness, tensile strength and wettability of B- 97 wax have been investigated. The results have been discussed and waxes having superior properties to those of B-97 and of the commercial B-140 investment casting pattern wax have been prepared.
