Investigating hospitalized school children perception the nurse and the hospital

The purpose of this qualitative study; hospitalized by school-age children how to determine whether the hospital and the nurses are perceived and evaluated. In this study 15 child, was selected by using qualitative research sampling methods, such as criterion sampling methods. The study was conducted between April 2012 – September 2012 in University Hospital of Adnan Menderes Child Health and Diseases Service. The forms that are used in the research, namely Patient Information Form, which provides wide information regarding the child and family and Interview Form which are semi-constructed interview. The hospitalized child,by explaining the study to the parent,the families were read lnformed Approval Form and Patient lnformation Form was filled with mutual interview technique the acceptors. A face to face interview was conducted with each of child by using deep interview method a suitable room in the hospital. Questions were raised by using the İnterview form and the semi-constructed interview (30-45 minutes) was recorded in a recording device. After interview, the interview tape has been transformed into a Microsoft Word document, the data were coded and classified by themes and a report has been issued after the interpretation. As a result of the research, two themes were determined: Information and Thoughts, Suggestions and Requests. lt was appointed that children were aware of the reasons of their being hospitalized, hospital was nice, affectionated, well treated place, care was provided well by nurses and doctor, there was no bad sides, nurses were smiling, happy, taking care of the patients and informing was made before the process.
