Abstract (EN)

In this study, in the southeast of the Lake Hazar which is 22 km from the center of Elazig Province, whole-rock samples of the HZ11-P15 drill-hole mineralogy, clay mineralogy, geochemistry examined within the scope of this thesis work field and laboratory studies were carried out. Thus, the vertical distributions were determined clay mineralogy, major, trace and rare earth elements (REE) analyzes of the lake sediments of Pleistocene-Holocene period revealed that clays, and geochemistry of the lake is fed by examining the source of the lake basin. The study area around the Lake Hazar to the uppermost units; Paleozoic-Mesozoic Pötürge Metamorphics, Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous ophiolite Guleman, Maastrichtian-Lower Eocene Hazar Group, Middle Eocene Maden Complex, Senonian Cretaceous magmatites, - Palu Formation and the Plio-Quaternary alluvium. Whole-rock samples and clay fraction minerals have been identified. Accordingly, lake sediments, clay> mica> feldspar> calcite> quartz> dolomite, and clay minerals are chlorite> İllite> S-C respectively. S-C increase, and a decrease in illite and chlorite with depth. quartz, feldspar, calcite, SC decreased from unit L1 to unit L2, dolomite, clay, mica to a lesser extent, illite, chlorite increased. Accordingly, these minerals can be distinguished for Holocene and Pleistocene discrimination. Illite-chlorite and S-C act differently possibility of climatic changes. The main elements in oxide PAAS (Post-Archean Australian Shale) values are normalized to PAAS major oxide samples, which are not the same according to the diagram. However, according to a normalized PASS, rare earths have fallen slightly according to the diagram, the heavy earth elements close PAAS. This show that more basic character of samples according to acidic PAAS geochemistry. Also according to the normalized diagram of samples to the rare earths in North American Shales (NASC) does not like geochemistry of NASC. NASC geochemistry is more acidic than the analysed samples. rare Normalized of the earth elements to chondrite show that the samples of island arc and back-arc tholeiitic mafic rocks. The weight of the rocks surrounding the lake sediments of the Elazı ğ Magmatites and Maden Complex are property of the mafic rocks in the island arc and back-arc basin sediments that formed rocks suggests the presence of these rocks are mainly fed. La / Lu, La / Sc, Th / Sc, La / Co, Cr / Th ratios of sediments show that source of rocks are mafic and felsic and material hadn?t been taken from upper continental crust. The possible source material of Hazar Lake sediments are Hazar-Maden Complex and predominantly mafic volcanic magmatites and Bitlis Metamorphic material isn?t received. Considering The Hazar-Maden Complex have smectite-chlorite (S-C), illite, chlorite, mainly material of the sediments is these units. And examples of Zr-Ti/100-Sr/2,Zr-Ti diagrams are show that sediments of Hazar lake is calc-alkaline basalt. Key Words: Elazı ğ, Lake Hazar, clay mineralogy, geochemistry, the Hazar-Maden Complex
