Abstract (EN)
Textile and ready-to-wear sector which started to grow with the development policy directed at export particularly after 1980s, has become one of Turkey's largest industries today. Cheap cotton yarn production, convenience of geographical location for logistics infrastructure, delivery of products on time, increase of production as well as design potential are the proofs of this growth of the industry. But today, the countries that provide extremely cheap manufacture and labor, such as China, India, Bangladesh, have begun to push the competitiveness of Turkey. In the face of such adverse conditions increasing the proportion of value-added products and the design power of Turkey has become inevitable. The purpose of this research is to determine exactly what the job descriptions of printing designers working in the ready-to-wear sector are, the importance of their position in the sector, how to develop and use use their competences correctly in parallel with the changes and developments in the sector and in the world, to explain how the dynamics of design preparation should be to global brands, and also to examine the detailed role of printing designers from the beginning of the design to the end of the sample production. In this thesis, apart from the literature research about Turkey's ready-to-wear clothing export capacity, some of the global brands that have been cooperated with and the importance of this; the studies related to the necessity of ready-to-wear exporters giving more attention to the designs and designers in Turkey have been mentioned, how the novice designers who will start to work in the sector can equip themselves has been explained and in this context, the increase of school-sector collaborations has been emphasized. In addition, interviews with Turkish and Spanish designers have been included in order to explain the design and sample process in depth.
