Investigation of problems experienced in supply chain management in halal certified hotel enterprises

The halal-certified hotel industry, as an essential part of the tourism sector, faces various challenges in supply chain management. The requirement to provide services in compliance with halal principles necessitates a more meticulous and attentive approach to their supply chain operations. This study aims to thoroughly examine the challenges encountered in the supply chain management processes of halal-certified hotel enterprises and to propose actionable solutions to address these issues. A qualitative research method was employed in the study, utilizing in-depth interviews to gain insights into participants' experiences and perspectives. Data were collected through semi-structured interview forms from 33 participants working in the procurement departments of halal-certified hotels located in Turkey's Mediterranean, Aegean, and Central Anatolia regions. The collected data were carefully analyzed and categorized using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that the primary challenges faced by halal-certified hotel enterprises in their supply chain processes include sourcing certified suppliers, logistical disruptions, cost control, and quality management. These challenges were found to have direct negative impacts on customer satisfaction and operational performance. Based on the results, recommendations were developed to improve supply chain management processes, emphasizing their potential benefits for enhancing operational performance and customer satisfaction.
