Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study was planned to reveal the effect of emotional intelligence awareness training given to nurses on their entrepreneurship and innovation tendencies. Material and Method: This research was carried out as "Pre-Test Post-Test Control Group Experimental Study". The study was carried out at İnönü Üniversitesi Turgut Özal Tıp Merkezi located in Malatya city center between 15.06.2021 and 30.12.2022. The sample of the study consisted of 26 nurses, 11 of whom were in the experimental group and 15 in the control group, determined by the simple probability sampling method. For data collection, Personal information form, ŞDZÖ, GPBE and BYÖ were used. Descriptive statistics of continuous variables obtained with questionnaires and scales, depending on the distribution of the data; mean, number and percentage, t-test (paired t-test) in dependent groups, Wilcoxon signed rank test, t-test (Student's t-test) in independent groups, Mann Whitney U test were used. Results: As a result of the study, it was determined that the average score of the nurses in the experimental group in ŞDZÖ, GPBE and BYÖ increased compared to the control group. The increase in the scores of the experimental group in the pretest-posttest ŞDZÖ and GPBE was not found to be statistically significant (p˃0.05). However, it was determined that the average score increase in the "Entrepreneurial motivation" dimension of the GPBE was statistically significant (p=0.024). It was determined that the increase in the mean score obtained from the BYÖ was statistically significant (p=0.026), and the change in the "resistance to change" sub-dimension of the scale was found to be highly significant (p=0.007). In addition, it has been determined that there is a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship and innovation tendency. Conclusion: Emotional Intelligence Awareness Training has increased the entrepreneurial motivation and innovative tendencies of nurses. In the light of these results, it is recommended to carry out studies on emotional intelligence awareness in the curriculum of the student nurses during the university education process and in the in-service training of the working nurses.
