3SUMMARYThis study was performed to define the level of knowledge of nurses aboutblood transfusion and the effect of training into it. Sixty-two nurses working inAfyon Kocatepe University Hospital existed the samples of the study. Wilcoxon tworelated sample test, Mann Whitney-U test, Anova test and T test were performed forstatistical analysis.The marks of knowledge about blood transfusion of nurses, detected highestthan the studies before. The existence of blood transfusion committee in thathospital, the gradations of nurses which is mostly four-year faculty and masterdegree the existence of nurses in the study group who were trained about bloodtransfusion was effective to the reasons of those high marks of knowledge level.Training about blood and blood products to the nurses caused in cause in theknowledge level is understood from quarry results. İt is detected that knowledgelevel about blood transfusion increases when graduation level and donation ofexperience increase The marks of knowledge of nurses detected higher who hadpost-graduate training.Available findings suggest that: planned and continued and effective postgraduate education could be given the nurses, standardizations studies should beperformed with the aim of effective, practical post graduate education and least malpractice, transfusion follow charts should be formed, blood transfusion committeesshould be available for best conditions to perform blood transfusion, the graduationlevel should be at least four year faculty for he selection of nurses who will work inthe hospital.Key Words: Nurse, knowledge level, effect of training, blood transfusion,whole bloodPDF created with pdfFactory trial version www.pdffactory.com
