Abstract (EN)

Nursing is one of the professions experiencing very compassion fatigue. Symptoms of physical, emotional and social exhaustion may occur in nurses experiencing from compassion fatigue.The study was conducted as a cross-sectional study to determine the compassion fatigue and burnout levels of nurses. The study was carried out between May 2018-October 2018 with 481 volunteer nurses who agreed to participate in the study without using any sampling method from 339 nurses working in public hospital of İskenderun in the province of Hatay. The data were collected by a personal information form consisting of 24 questions, compassion scale cosisting 24 questions and burnout measure consisting of 21 questions. The highest score that can be obtained from the compassion fatigue scale is 120 and the lowest score is 24. The highest score that can be obtained from the burnout measure scale is 105 and the lowest score is 21. Number, percentage, One Way Anova, Student t, Mann Whitney-U, Kruskal Wallis, All pairwise, Pearson and Chı-Square tests were used to evaluate the data. It was founded nurses that 46.6% were 26-35 years old, 74% were women and 56.6% were married. It was determined that the total score of compassion fatigue scale of 3.77±2.13 and burnout measure scale of 3.78±1.10. It was founded that there was a positive and moderate level of significant relationship between compassion fatigue subscale indifference and emotional exhaustion. It was determined that there was a negative and low level of significant relationship between total score of compassion fatigue and burnout measure scale. It was fixed statistically significant that compassion fatigue scale and burnout measure scale scores gender, age, number of child, longest living region, working year, voluntary selection job, clinic assignment form, job satisfaction, empathy with patients and affected patients' pain such as variables (p<0.05). İn line with the results of our research, nurses ara experiencing medium level of compassion fatigue and burnout. As a result, actions to prevent and to develop strategies for dealing to compassion fatigue and burnout of nurses recommend to planned and implemented in both administrative and individual Keywords:Nursing, Compassion, Compassion Fatigue, Burnout.
