Abstract (EN)
The aim of this cross-sectional study is to investigate the attitudes of nursing and midwifery students towards gender roles. The population of the research consists of 1305 students studying in Gaziantep University nursing and midwifery department in 2018-2019 academic years. In the study, the whole universe was tried to be reached. 955 students who participated and accepted to participate in the study were included in the study. The (GRAS) research data were collected with the Descriptive Characteristics Form and Gender Roles Attitude Scale (GRAS). The research data were evaluated in SPSS program. 81.6% of the participants were female and 18.4% were male. 76.6% of the students participating in the study are studying in nursing (732) and 23.4% in midwifery (223). When the (GRAS) total scores of female and male students in the study were compared, the scale mean score of female students (155.36 ± 18.87) was higher than that of male students (127.74 ± 18.14). According to this result, it can be said that female students have more egalitarian attitude than male students. In the research, Equality Gender (36.01 ± 4.39), Female Gender (27.93 ± 5.72), Gender in Marriage (36.45 ± 3.62), Traditional Gender (29.41 ± 5.22) and Male Gender were compared to nursing students of midwifery students (24.97 ± 3.61), were found to have a higher level of egalitarian attitudes towards their roles (p <0.05). As a result, it was determined that the 955 students who participated in the study had an egalitarian attitude towards gender roles according to their score means (150.27 ± 21.5).
