Abstract (EN)

Aim: This study was conducted with the objective of measuring the validity and the reliability of the Turkish version of the Nursing Incivility Scale. Method: The methodological type of this research is composed of 505 nurses working at İzmir Sağlık Bilimleri University Tepecik Training and Research Hospital and Alsancak Nevvar Salih İşgören State Hospital. Research data was collected using snowball method in time that between April and June 2016. in research was used sociodemographic information form and Nursing Incivility Scale as data collection tools. Validity of Nursing Incivility Scale was evaluated by content validity, construct validity and known groups validity; reliability was evaluated by standard error, internal consistency and time-invariance. The analysis of the data was made using the SPSS 21.0 package program and the LİSREL 9.1 program. Findings: Explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed to test construct validity of the scale. Factor analysis of Nursing Incivility Scale consists of forty three item was explaining %58,029 of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis (Χ2/df CMIN/df 2,517, RMSA 0,055, NFI 0,834 and CFI 0,902) revealed a six-factor structure (nurse incivility, patient/visitor incivility, manager incivility, physician incivility, general incivility –hostile attitudes, inappropriate attitude). Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients ranged from 0,91 to 0,73. The test-retest correlation coefficient of the scale was found to be statistically significant with a value of 0,98 (p<0.001). Results: It's determined that, the Turkish version of Nursing Incivility Scale has acceptable level of validity and reliability and it can be used as a scale. Key words: Incivility, Nursing, Scale, Validity, Reliability
