Correlation between sensetion seeking, life satisfaction and perceived freedom in leisure: Sample of horror themed escape rooms

The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between sensation seeking, life satisfaction and perceived freedom in leisure for participants of horror themed escape rooms in İzmir and to compare these in terms of various demographic variables. Study population consists of participants of horror themed escape rooms whereas sample group consisting of voluntary participants divided as 197 males (Medage=25.89 ± 7.71) and 155 females (Medage=25.56 ± 7.11) was obtained via convenience sampling method. Personal information form developed by the researcher, "Sensation Seeking Scale Short Form" (SSS) adapted into Turkish by Çelik and Turan (2016), "Life Satisfaction Scale" (LSS) adapted into Turkish by Durak, Şenol Durak and Gençöz (2010) and "Perceived Freedom in Leisure Scale" (PFLS) adapted into Turkish by Yerlisu Lapa and Ağyar (2017) were applied. In the analysis of the obtained data, frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation; and in the analysis of independent samples t test, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation tests were used. In order to test if data meet prerequisites for parametric tests, Skewness and Kurtosis values and Levene test results were determined. Consequently, it is found that participants sometimes have difficulties in treating time, participate in horror themed escape rooms with friends, and participation in physical activities increases mean scores of all scales and differ in terms of various variables. Also there is a low level and positive correlation between PFLS and LSS and a medium level and positive correlation between PFLS and SSS.
