Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate how the historical and philosophical dimensions of hybridisation concept are presented in chemistry textbook and also to search the ideas of teachers on these subject. Another purpose of this study is to search alternatif theories are given or not with hybridisation in textbooks and to learn how teachers care about these dimensions of hybridisation when introducing this concept.The research has been planned in two steps. In the first step of the study, the hybridisation concept which are presented in four chemistry textbooks cammonly used in Turkey were anlaysed by content analysis method. To investigate how historical and philosophical dimensions of hybridisation concept are presented in chemistry textbook, check lists were prepared. By using these check lists, the books were analysed. In the second step of the study, interview were performed with 21 chemistry teachers who work in Science high schools, Anotolian high schools and Anatolian teachers high schools in Ankara province. The results of interviews were analysed by content analysis. Data collected consequence of the study were evaluated by using SPSS program.Under the light of the findings of the study, it was observed that the chemistry textbooks not reflect the the historical and philosophical dimensions of hybridisation concept. The information obtained from interviwes, it is possible to say the teachers have not adequate knowledge about the historical and philosophical dimensions of hybridisation concept. And also it was found that most of the teachers belive that these dimensions are not neccessary at this level.
