Abstract (EN)

Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a Ca-P based bioceramic which is used to the virtue of having excellent biocompatibility and bioactivity properties and chemical and structural resemblance with inorganic part of the human skeletal system. Hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) is among the non-oxide ceramics class and is used in the electronic, optical and mechanical applications by reason of having specific physical and chemical properties like low density, low dielectric constant, high thermal conductivity, and remarkable chemical stability. In recent studies, its biocompatibility and non-cytotoxicity have stated. In this study, HA-BN composites in varying concentrations have deposited on the titanium (Ti), Ti6Al4V and stainless steel (SS) substrates by using electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method. The suspension and the process parameters have investigated to obtain a homogeneous, crack-free and good adhesion between the coating and substrate. The homogeneous and crack-free composite coatings containing various amounts of hBN have obtained. Adhesion tests were performed and classified using ASTM D3359-B. The composite coatings showed excellent adhesion strength to the substrates. The corrosion resistance of the composite coatings was found to be increased compared to pure Ti.
