Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to make the chracterization of borogypsum which is the waste of Emet Boric Acid Plant and recovery the lithium from this waste. For this reason, first of all, optimum solubility conditions of borogypsum are settled. The parameters studied while deciding the optimum conditions are calcination temperature, calcination time, mixing time and the solid/liquid (K/S) ratio. The recovery of lithium that is taken into the solution at the optimum solubility conditions, by the lithium ion-sieves known as selective adsorbents is studied. For this purpose two types of ion-sieve is used. One of them is the ?-MnO2 which is obtained by the teatment of LiMn2O4 with acid and other is the ion-sieve with nickel preapared with the acid teatment of LiNi0,5Mn1,5O4 that is occured by the substitution some of manganese with nickel. For each ion-sieve firstly it is investigated that using which acid gives the high Li+ extraction property and then with the decided acid, the ion-sieves are preapared. After that maximum lithium adsoption, desorption capacities and the manganese and nickel dissolution ratios are studied. LiOH solution used as lithium resource at the experiments and optimum pH, time, temprature, concentration and adsorbent dosage are determined. Then at the optimum conditions the adsorption capacity and desorption yield of the adsorbents from the borogypsum sample and the certificated standard reference material are studied. The results are compatable with the results obtained by the synthetic solution.
