Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of intrauterine chlorocresol and boric acid in the treatment of clinical endometritis. The study included a total of 55 Holstein cows in their first lactation, on the 45th day postpartum, maintained under the same environmental conditions and fed the same diet. The cows were randomly divided into three groups and subjected to different treatment protocols. The control group consisted of 15 cows, while the chlorocresol and boric acid groups consisted of 20 cows each. To evaluate the placebo effect, the control group received three doses of 50 ml of % 0.9 isotonic sodium chloride intrauterine at three-day intervals. The other groups received three doses of 50 ml of %1 boric acid and 50 ml of %1 chlorocresol intrauterine at three-day intervals. The results of the study concluded that both chlorocresol and boric acid have therapeutic effects in the treatment of clinical endometritis. Chlorocresol was observed to achieve higher success than boric acid in recovery rates, pregnancy status, and discharge conditions. Furthermore, the higher pregnancy rates obtained with chlorocresol suggest that it could be a more suitable option in clinical practice. These findings provide valuable insights for developing treatment strategies that can positively impact animal health and reproductive efficiency. In the future, further research on different dosages, application methods, and long-term effects of these substances is considered beneficial for optimizing treatment efficacy.
