Abstract (EN)

Universal joints, which are widely used in many part of industry can be classified according to their operating princibles as contant and non-constant velocity joints. As you understand from the definitions, constant velocity joints transmit a uniform motion, so driving and driven yokes velocities are equal to each other, on the other hand non-constant velocity joints transmit a nonuniform motion when it operates at an angle. In the firt step of this study, driven yoke output angular velocity changes have been investigated according to joint angle and rotation angle for various shaft arragements of non-constant velocity joints at constant driving yoke velocity. Effects of residual joint angle to the joint motion have been described also in this section. On the next steps, some informations have been given about cardan joint and its components contructive details and failure types and causes. Then, torques and secondary couples which are acting on joint components have been determined for constant input torque at given joint angles. Finally, at maximum operating conditions, stress analysis of cross has been done by using Cosmosworks module of Solidworks 2004. Critical sections on the cross and stress values of these sections have been found.
