Abstract (EN)

In this study, the presence of Akabane Virus (AKAV) infection was investigated in Honamlı goats, which are owned by the people of Burdur province. For this purpose, blood samplings were performed from 425 healthy looking male and female goats of 6 months old or older. In the study, it was aimed to reveal the sensitivity of Honamlı breed goats against infection. In the study, the Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) was applied for blood samples collected from the districts of Burdur province and they were checked in terms of AKAV antibodies. Nine (2,12%) of the tested 425 goat blood sera were detected seropositive. The seropositivity rates according to places of settlement were stated between 6,67% and 0%. The distribution of positivity according to age was found as 3,66% (3/82) for goats of four years old, 3,70% (3/81) for goats of 5 years old, 3,45% (2/58) for goats of 6 years old and 1,33% (1/30) for goats of 7 years old. The difference between the seropositivity rates determined in males and females of various age groups in districts was considered statistically insignificant (p>0.05). As a result of this research, the presence/prevalence of AKAV infection in the Honamlı goat breed was revealed serologically.
