Abstract (EN)

The number of sheep and goats in our country has decreased in recent years. Honamli goats, which are bred in the Mediterranean region, are an important breed for the region. For this reason, the pregnancy rate to be obtained after ram accession in goats is important. It is believed that nitric oxide, a free radical gas, may have effects on reproductive functions, among other effects. Nitric oxide is synthesized from the genitals of hormonal regulation of reproduction in mammals, the formation and continuation of pregnancy, births and it is suggested that a physiological role in the performance of ovarian function. Serum iNOS and DDAH enzyme activites with varying levels in many cases associated with oxidative stress, as well as homocysteine and ADMA levels are parameters related to each other and related to NO metabolism. In this master's thesis, it is aimed to investigate the relationship of these parameters with the conception rate by determining the serum iNOS and DDAH enzyme activities and ADMA and Hcy levels in goats that were conceived and did not conceive after natural fertilization. For this purpose, an in-season pregnancy examination was performed 50-60 days after single entry in Honam hybrid female goats between the ages of 2-4, and blood samples were taken from pregnant (n=20) and non-pregnant (nDec=20) goats. Serum iNOS and DDAH enzyme activities as well as homocysteine and ADMA levels were measured with the Eliza kit. ADMA and homocysteine levels of the non-pregnant group were found to be statistically significantly higher than those of the pregnant group (p<0.05). On the other hand, no significant differences were found between the groups in iNOS and Dec activities. The decrease in ADMA and Homocysteine levels in the pregnant group had important metabolic effects on ensuring pregnancy and the continuation of pregnancy by reducing stress mechanisms in the organism. High ADMA and homocysteine levels in plasma can cause endothelial dysfunction, resulting in a decrease in the rate of conception. In terms of increasing the yield and quality of reproduction in goat herds, the data of this study in terms of the availability of these parameters can provide reference values for further studies.
