Institutions employees and demographic structure which belons to administration of Bursa Sanjak according to Hüdavendigar province?s yearbook

According to the first two yearbooks leading our work (1287-1288 H. ), Bursa Sancak (subdivision of a province) is shown as a seperate region inside the borders of Hudavendigar Province.In the centre of the province a governor is mentioned as the superior administrator and in Bursa Sancak Mutasarrif (administrator of a Sancak) is mentioned. According to the oldest yearbooks Bursa Sancak consists of 1 central city and 7 towns attached to the centre. These are; Bilecik, Gemlik,Yenisehir,Mudanya, negöl, Harmancık and Mihaliç. In addition, there are 11 sub-districts attached to the towns. These are; Atronus, Kirmastı, Sögüd, Gölpazarı, Lefke, Karacasehir, Bazarköy, znik, Trilye, Bazarcık and Gökçedag. In the yearbook dated 1289 H. Bursa Sancak is shown as the centre of Hudavendigar Province. The Administrator is a governor. When we look at the Sancak administrative council and the councils of the towns, we see that;The representation right was given to Moslem and non-Moslem population equally according to the population rate.The number of the representatives had been increased in the provinces where the non-Moslem population rate was high.In the same way, it was reduced in the provinces where the non-Moslem population was low. In Gemlik town council non-Moslem citizens were represented by their superior religious adminis-trators. In the following years,the number of the towns decreased down to 6 but the number of the sub-districts increased up to 13,in administrative structure. Harmancık Town was converted to a sub-district and attached to the centre. In the same time with the declaration of The First Constitutional Monarchy,4 representatives from the province were chosen as the members of The Ottoman Parliment (Meclis-i Mebusan). According to the data of the oldest yearbooks taken up as demographic structure,Moslem and non-Moslem male population was totally 141667.The number of Moslem people was 97309 and the rest 44358 people were non-Moslem citizens. The total population living in the sub-districts was 50576.In the sub-districts 37942 people of total population were Moslem and 12634 people were non-Moslem. According to the data recorded in 1294 H.,Moslem and non-Moslem male population was 119647 in Bursa Sancak.81281 people of them were Moslem and the rest 38366 people were non-Moslem. The total population in the centre and in the towns was 63937.The number of Moslem people was 38109 and the rest 25828 people were non- Moslem. The total population living in the sub-ditricts was 55710. In the subdistricts 43172 people of total population were Moslem and the rest 12538 people were non-Moslem.
