Abstract (EN)

Every language is integrated with the culture of its people and it forms an inseparable unity. Since culture is the whole of values that are passed down from one generation to the next in the form of traditions, a transfer is also of concern in case of culture. Translation is, therefore, one of the ways of cultural transfer. Accordingly, determinacy of culture on translation must be perceived inevitable. Transfer of culture in translation means that the function of the text for the target receptors in target culture should be in relevance with that of the text in source culture, from the point of view of translator who is an expert in both cultures. Here, equivalence is of main concern in the transfer of culture. As a consequence, equivalence is also a culturally oriented term.
