Aisha and her role in political life after the Prophet Muhammed

Our thesis aiming to bring up the role of Aisha in the formation of the events of first period after the prophet Muhammed, using the main sources, contains the periods of the prophet Muhammed, Four Rightly Guided Caliphs and partly the period of Muawiya. The thesis has been prepared in accordance with the general principles of the History of Islamic Sects like focusing on individuals, scrutinizing the back grounds of events baring on firsthand sources and criticizing the sources.In introduction part social status of women, the duties to which they are assigned and the procedure of their appointments to those duties are dealt with.In the first chapter, first, the life of Aisha, her personality as a woman and her social status among the Muslims in the period of the Prophet Muhammed, as the wife of the prophet and a foremost person with her culture are showed. Moreover the event of Ifq, the prophet Muhammed?s attitude to this event, the verse of tayammum and Aisha?s position in last days of the prophet Muhammed are studied. Yet, these events are very important for the formation of legal and philosophical thought of following periods.In the second chapter, first, the place of Aisha in political and social life is studied. Then, impacts of the opinions of Aisha and the events in which she had a part, on the formation of religious beliefs and practices in the first period of Islamic thought are showed. Aisha?s being active in both electing caliphs and solving the social problems is the most interesting matter over here.Key Words: Aisha, the event of Ifq, Politics, the period of Four Rightly Guided Calips, the Battle of Camel.
