Abstract (EN)
Kazım Karabekir, who was one of the most important officer of the last period of Ottoman Empire, was born in 11 August 1882 in Istanbul. After he graduated from Kuleli Military High School in 1900, he continued military collage, and he became lieutenant. In 5 November 1905, he graduated from military academy as a staff captain. In 1906, he started his military service as a lieutenant commander in Manastır. His political life started with being member of the Committee of Union and Progress. He became very successful in both this field and military service. In addition, he gained several successes in the W.W.1. He tried to find solutions to rescue the country by signing the armistice of Montrose. He gained great success in War of Independence, especially in eastern front. In 23 April 1920, he contributed to open of Turkish Grand National Assembly and he came into office as a deputy of Edirne. At the same time, he continued to follow the Parliament I because of the continuation of the war and the commander of the Eastern Front, but he was guided by declaring his opinion on many important issues. The deputies who started activities with significant authorities, had a variety of differences in terms of their educational level and opinions. Their only purpose was to gain independence of country. Ending the war with the armistice of Mudania and reaching the aim, Turkish nation gained independence thanks to the deputies' effort and devotion who were changed I. Assembly. After gain independence, 1. Assembly believed that the country needs to be built, so they decided to have a vote and they ended the authority. II. Assembly, reestablished Turkey based on social, political and cultural. With the end of the war, Kazım Karabekir came to west side and he was charged as the deputy of Istanbul. In this period, he made significant works; he expressed his opinions and actions especially in the field of education, economic and military. In 17 November 1924, he was the leader of the progressive Republican Party which was the first organized opposing party of history of the republic. Opposing party could not last long and it was closed with the law on the maintenance of order in 3 June 1925. Kazım Karabekir criticized harshly classing of the party with the low on the maintenance of order and he thought that it was a historical mistake. The closure of his party did not finish his political life and his deputies continued. The political life of Kazım Karabekir, who is continuing to the opposition in the Parliament, ended with his trial on the grounds of the Izmir Assassination Initiative in the Independence Courts. Kazım Karabekir was away from political sphere until Mustafa Kemal deaths and in 1939 he was elected as a deputy from Istanbul. Between the years 1946-1948, he carried on task of speakership.
