This study addresses the issues of epistemic formation and literary art in the poetry of Ibn Hamdis al-Siqilli. The significance of this research lies in the fact that no independent study has been published under this title, either in books or academic theses, that explores these two essential elements in his poetry, despite their prominent presence in his work. This gap motivated us to create a study dedicated to this topic, aiming to contribute academically to the literary library. Epistemic formation and literary art deeply permeate the structure of Ibn Hamdis' poems, forming two essential pillars in the poetic fabric, especially since these two elements are closely connected to each other. They are related either through the poetic content in the cultural background from which the poet draws his material or through the way the poet constructs the poem's structure, drawing upon his epistemic formation of literary art. This research aims to highlight the defining features of epistemic formation in Ibn Hamdis' poetry, as it is a crucial tool for extracting the deep meanings that his poems carry. Furthermore, the epistemic formation helps in analyzing the aspects of literary art that reflect the uniqueness of his artistic experience. Through this study, we aim to combine two aspects: the cultural knowledge represented by epistemic formation and the artistic structure represented by poetic art. The goal is to uncover Ibn Hamdis' knowledge of classical Arabic poetic heritage and his deep understanding of the principles of the 'Amûd theory of poetry. The study is built upon an introduction and three main chapters. The introduction addresses the importance of the topic, the research problem, methodology, and the impact of epistemic formation on the structure of poetry, along with a discussion of the poet's status, as well as the influence of geographical diversity on the formation of his poetic identity. The first chapter is dedicated to studying the poet's life, his political and cultural context, and the contents of his poetry. The second chapter explores the issues of epistemic formation in his poetry in both theoretical and practical terms, especially concerning the theme of belonging. The third chapter is dedicated to studying the epistemic formation of poetic art through its linguistic, imagistic, and rhythmic dimensions, following a critical approach grounded in classical Arabic literary criticism concepts. This chapter aims to reveal the artistic foundation of Ibn Hamdis' poetry.
