Abstract (EN)

Theory of Knowledge and the Knowledge of God in Ibn Rushd's Thought This study addresses the theory of knowledge and views on God's knowledge of Ibn Rushd (1126-1198), one of the prominent Islamic philosophers who holds an important place in Islamic thought. It also provides a comparative perspective by occasionally referring to the views of other thinkers. The main purpose of the study is to examine and analyze Ibn Rushd's approach to these two significant topics. The study consists of an introduction and three main chapters. In the introduction, the importance of the topic, the scope and purpose of the research are explained, and the sources used for this study are clarified. The first chapter covers Ibn Rushd's life, intellectual influences, and his major works in philosophy, medicine, and religion. The second chapter, aimed at laying a foundation for the study, first focuses on defining the concept of knowledge and its conceptual domain, then discusses the views of Islamic philosophers and theologians such as al-Kindi, al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, and al-Ghazzali on the subject. Following this preliminary background, Ibn Rushd's approach to the source of knowledge is analyzed in detail. His explanations regarding the relationship between the senses and intellect and their roles in the process of acquiring knowledge are examined. Additionally, the concepts of "intellect and "ittisal" (connection) are explored, and their relation to humans' grasp of the truths of existence is investigated. The last chapter, the third chapter, discusses Ibn Rushd's views on how he conceptualizes God's knowledge, focusing on God's unlimited knowledge, its relation to time and space, and the status of God's knowledge concerning universals and particulars. Keywords: Knowledge, Ibn Rushd, Ittisål, God's Knowledge, Particular, Universal.
